So I got the tester deck in the mail and I’m not even complimenting my artwork when I say that it is SO GORGEOUS. I could not be happier with the quality of the printing, you can see the subtle colours and textures of the watercolor and all of the tiny obsessive why-am-I-like-this details.
It’s worked out to be $40 retail (okay $39.99 but I’m not trying to fool anyone, that’s just how they do their pricing), which gives me about $5.60 per deck. I feel ok about that amount, and I feel like the price stays very much in line with other decks out there – it’s only $10 more than I charged for the Neurotic Owl Tarot quite a few years ago, and this one includes a booklet and a really lovely full color tuck box. I am also SO happy to not be dealing with a Kickstarter and having to deal with inventory and shipping out orders myself this time.

Places to buy stuff!
Did I miss something? I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:
I saw the new staging of ‘1776’ last night and HOLY SHIT Y’ALL. I have to admit a part of me wondered if it was just a bit of a ‘let’s do the next Hamilton’ idea, doing that show (that I’ve never found terribly interesting) with a female and nonbinary cast of mostly BIPOC. But NO, it is so thoughtful and brilliant. This is my fault for not knowing the show well, but the ways they’ve reimagined the staging are amazing – it really brings out the (unfortunately) very timely political message. In particular, the songs ‘Molasses to Rum’ and ‘Momma, Look Sharp’ were absolutely searing in their intensity and meaning.
Also it’s a whole show in drag being played to a massively delighted audience in Texas, so I hope somewhere Abbott and Paxton’s hair burst into flames.
Seriously, if this tours near you get yourself to it if you can; I’m hoping there’ll be a filmed version at some point.
