Neurotic Owl

Weeklyish thingy and ANOTHER kitty.

Painting cats, it’s a lot of what I currently do.

This is specifically my parents’ cat (so my adopted brother?) Skippy. They just had to say goodbye to him; he had congestive heart failure and any intervention strong enough to keep him alive would not have given him any quality of life, so it was time.

Skippy was a CHARACTER. When they first adopted him he was so skittish he hid under the bed in the guest room for weeks and was only slowly lured out into the house. (He also left that room trashed enough that they had to totally rip out flooring and KILLZ all the walls before it was habitable again.)

But once he bonded with my father he bonded hard. He constantly wanted his full attention and had no time for anyone else. I’m usually good with skittish cats, I visited regularly, and I knew they only way I’d get to touch him was if he was in one of his safe spots and I did NOT dare to sit down or settle into any comfortable position.

He looked like a little wildcat and climbed his scratching tree like one too.

He liked leaving toy mice in his dry food dish.

Places to buy stuff!

Did I miss something?  I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:

Got to hang out with Magical Sparkle Muffin and her family, and she VOLUNTEERED to watch several more Buffy episodes so maybe sometime in the next five years we’ll progress to the point that I won’t have to constantly worry about dropping spoilers!

I really enjoyed reading about Skippy and how he bonded with your father. It’s always heartbreaking to say goodbye to a beloved pet.

I have a question, though. How did Skippy react to the toy mice in his dry food dish? Was it just a playful habit or did he have a special affection for them?

You know, I don’t really know – we’d just find them in there and know he’d dropped them off 😉
