Oops, more time between posts!

I have an excellent reason this time, though – you may have heard about a wee little hurricane named Beryl that has just fucking destroyed anyone’s ability to do anything in Houston?

I was relatively lucky compared to most – I got my power back late Tuesday morning, although I still didn’t have reliable internet or phone service till Wednesday evening. But my parents only got power back last night, so they came and camped in my craft room and after a bit also brought their cats to get them out of the heat. So, two bedroom apartment-type condo, three adult humans, two of whom barely get along at the best of times, and three cats. Wheeeeeeeee.

Everyone who doesn’t usually live here went home last night, though, so I finally have some brain cells for posting. I have a big big embroidery project going right now that I’ll share soon, but I just realized I haven’t shown y’all my silly hat yet! (If you want to see a lot of progress pics of the big embroidery so far, I’m on mastodon as neuroticowl@mastodon.art and I’m posting very regularly)

I snagged this hat at DC Pride when the sun was trying to kill me and I was already thinking on the way back to the hotel about what I wanted to do to it.

Also! I don’t think I’ve mentioned it yet, but my cousin Daphne Uviller has a new book out and it’s AMAZING. Three women’s lives intersecting around a Planned Parenthood and a Crate and Barrel; it’s sweet and funny and sad and marvelous. It’s also timely as fuck if you need reminding about why there’s only one sane way to vote in the next election.
