Weekly thingy and crow brain attacks again.

Sorry there was’t a post last week but *gestures vaguely at world* truly it’s astonishing that I’m making anything these days.

Exciting news, both my La Llorona embroidery and the original painting for the Death card in the fairytale tarot got accepted to ‘A Tribute to Water’, on display at the Mexican Cultural Institute in San Antonio from March 01 to May 01, 2025.

This was made with a lot of images in my head; thoughts about fertility and abundance, combined with a very stark visual memory of a scene from the Julie Taymor Titus Andronicus following the –

attack on Livia where two men rape her and cut off her hands and cut out her tongue so that she can’t tell anyone what was done to her. I was also in a very vulnerable space at the time – even more so than usual – having found out that a two inch gap at the bottom of your bedroom curtains, even facing onto a narrow alleyway in front of a fence, is apparently considered an invitation for men to gather and watch you for months in your most private moments and then when one, for whatever reason, decides to knock on your door and tell you about it, pretend he thought you knew and liked being watched.

Anyway, this sculpture happened, and now I’m adding more beading and texture to it before I submit it to an upcoming show called ‘Pain Points’ along with my very recent angry nude self portrait when I decided it was time to reclaim my body.

What’s making me happy this week:

I don’t want to advertise for the bad Bezos site but I DO want to advertise for black trans representation and that’s where this show is, so *shrugs* I just binged all of Clean Slate, the new Norman Lear sitcom starring George Wallace and Laverne Cox, and I can’t enthuse enough about how amazing and delightful and straight up sweet it is. I may watch it all over again immediately.
