Neurotic Owl

And now, for something exceedingly different:

Please note the last drawing in this post involves visible penis, skip that one if that bothers you.

I’m still embroidering plenty but I made it to my first life drawing session in YEARS today, so how about some pastel sketches for a change?

I’m only posting the ones I’m reasonably pleased with, but keep in mind that these were short poses and there’s definitely a bunch of stray marks/scrubbing out/dicking around here.

This is the second model of the day, in case you’re thinking this back looks both broader and less clothed. Both fantastic models, but I definitely did better with the first guy in general – just these two of model #2 are making the ‘let other people see it’ cut.
He was holding a pole behind his back in this pose and I’m realizing now that not getting around to putting it in all the way means this really looks like he’s just gazing down at himself. He was not, I swear, his eyes were mostly just closed.

Places to buy stuff!

Did I miss something?  I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:

Seriously even though I’m exhausted and covered in pastel, drawing live models. I’m going to make an effort to at least get over to Archway Gallery once a month and get this kind of practice in.

VERY nice!  I’m envious–we used to have a thriving life-drawing meet-up group here until the person who made it happen moved away and none of the rest of us were able to take over. It’s funny. I feel the same about life-drawing as I do going for a brisk walk. “I don’t wanna, it’ll be hard, don’t make me.” And five minutes in, I’m so glad to be there. Have SO MUCH FUN! 🥰 Lisa B.
