In a bit of a chill time while I rest my hands from the last big embroidery and, more pertinently, a bunch of impulsive crocheting – I mostly gave up crochet for knitting because I know it fucks with my hands more, but sometimes the lure of quicker projects and yarns that don’t knit well seduces me.

My new favorite stupid hat – detail of the plush velvet strawberry and leaves bobble below.

Also, my Mom’s new hat, since she and my dad both had nothing on their chilly little heads at the theatre a few weeks ago. Of course, now it’s 80 degrees out.

And now I’m playing with an awesome little magic emporium kit my friends gave me for Chanukah since that’s a totally different had motion than sewing or crochet – after that I have an incredible embroidery kit that was also a Chanukah gift to work on, and you will definitely be getting progress shots of that since it is both very beautiful and fancy and going to be my first try at goldwork because my friends are amazing.
For now, a progress shot of one of the bits of the magic emporium, with a Sharpie for scale.

Places to buy stuff!
Did I miss something? I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:
Listen, my favorite thing about gifts is giving them – I love either making or picking out just the right thing, I love seeing people enjoy their presents, I never require reciprocal gifting. I truly do LOVE giving my friends things.
But it was a BONANZA Chanukah for me and I cannot pretend that isn’t also delightful – earrings I’m not allergic to and Barbie scale Giles mugs from a secret Santa, awesome projects/toys from the Hyggehaus, a cuddly flannel and Nicole Byers’ bikini book from a secret Slayer, and the set of dishes I have had on my wishlist for YEARS from my parents, plus a gift card for Jerry’s Artarama. Later today I will be unpacking by beautiful dishes that I picked out into my cabinets and getting rid of any of my current ones that are horribly cracked and chipped and that will be so so satisfying.
