Neurotic Owl

An oooooold project reappears and the weekly thingy.

More Red Shoes progress soon but I spent part of this weekend restretching the first large scale embroidery I ever did so that I could enter it in a show, and I think y’all deserve a better photo of it than I’ve gotten previously.

I had to get a little creative since the stitched area is 10.5” * 14.5” and stretcher bars come in integers – so instead of just my usual single layer of light cotton batting there are two layers of 1/8” foam wrapping the front and sides of the bars to provide the extra size I needed under the batting.

ALSO! I finally set up an Exhibitions page! It’s just a quick list and thumbnails of shows I’ve had work in, current places to see a piece in person, and upcoming shows, nothing fancy, but hopefully interesting and useful.

Places to buy stuff!

Did I miss something?  I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:

Speaking of shows, my most recent finished piece, Sticks and Stones, got accepted to ‘Independence for Whom?’, the Women’s Caucus for Art National Juried Show. I’m super excited, it was apparently very competitive because the venue is pretty small, and I’m honored to have made the cut. The gallery where the show is being help is a former suffragette’s prison, so that’s a fascinating context for this show in particular.
