This may require moderate explanation.  Basically, anyone who’s done a modicum of modern dance will be familiar with the Martha Graham hand position – cupped palm, pulled back at the wrist, with fingers and thumb extended together.  Anyone with basic comic book knowledge will understand why I spent so many of my childhood dance classes thinking, “Thwap!”
