Weekly thingy and rotating projects!

This isn’t done, but I’m putting it down for a while while I do a different piece that has an actual finish deadline.

And now for something not all that different in basic techniques, if totally different in tone: La Llorona. I’m planning for her to be surrounded by very dark trees and plants, standing in the Rio Grande with the water and hints of children’s faces swirling around her hem. This never translates in photos well, but I used a lot of my iridescent sparkly white thread to add highlights to her dress, and I’ll probably sprinkle some sparkly black through her hair.

What’s making me happy getting me through this week:

It’s hard to be happy right now, just getting through the day is a decent goal at the moment. I am reminding myself that Biden is still president till late January, so there’s no point to using energy on dreading what’s coming instead of seeing what can be accomplished right now to help in the days ahead.
