Hey all, clearly that midweek post didn’t happen, but behold! Progress!

I had so much fun doing the basket weave for her yarn basket that I am deeply tempted to just come up with a design involving tons of baskets piled up all over the place, but no, squirrel brain, there’s still tons to do on this. Photos don’t really show adequately how SHINY the food bowl is, I used a ton of iridescent thread in it and in person I think it really is giving the pressed glass I was aiming for, and my kitty kibble beads turned up yesterday so now it’s full of food.
This is the first of the more realistic cats; I decided to let just the one in progress and the one on her knee still have a knit texture, then go furrier with the others and let the matching balls of yarn in the basket tell the story that all of the kitties started life as plushies.

Places to buy stuff!
Did I miss something? I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:
I saw Raymonda at the Houston Ballet last night with Mom and it is STUNNING, I can see why their costume shop was so overwhelmed getting it up. It was also really fast moving and entertaining for what is a very long ballet – I’m a huge ballet nerd as someone who grew up wanting to be a ballerina, but I’m also the first to admit that the traditional structure of a story ballet can start to drag – prince dances, princess dances, they dance together, villagers dance, princess dances, prince dances, repeat. This new Stanton Welch version of Raymonda has a ton of story and character and humour, and all of the variations really were delightful. Also, I used to like hopping on pointe when I was dancing, but the variation where Violet did full on changements all the way up the stage on toe never putting her heels down was insane, I cannot imagine how strong that dancer’s feet are.
