Weekly thingy, embroidery update, and fashion (of sorts).

If you thought the food dish was fancy, LOOK at this ridiculous fountain. In my head it’s glazed pottery but really I’m just happy the silver thread for water worked out so well.

The blue marker will be going away; I’m taking a mild chance on using spit pen here – it does wash out of this fabric very easily, and I’m never leaving it in for more than a few hours while I get elements outlined in thread. So far my experience of this kind of disappearing marker is largely good; I have items that I used it on decades ago with no repercussions, although you ALWAYS need to test first, and I prefer not to leave it in the fabric for long. I’m much less comfortable with the Frixion heat pens everyone loves lately – those definitely DO reappear if you get the item cold enough, and even when that doesn’t happen I can still often see a slight transparent cast where the marks were.

Also this week, I altered a swimsuit! This starts stupidly – I know better, but I got tempted into ordering a swimsuit from RetroStage by both the sale price and the CUTENESS. I went a size up from what the chart said because I’d seen reviews saying the cups were a bit small, and I figured if the tits fit I could work with a looser body.

What came in was definitely big for me (workable) but the boobs were LAUGHABLY small. Just, half the size I need. I checked on their return policy (terrible of course) and took the only option that wouldn’t cost me more money – a whole $9 refund and keeping the suit.

SO. Time to get creative!

My first thought was to pull the structure out of the cups and build a swimsuit-worthy bra into them, but nope, the cups were just too tiny. So now I have a very cute two piece – I cut off and added elastic to the bottom, and then used scrap from the top to decorate that bra. Yaaaaaaay new swimsuit!

Places to buy stuff!

Did I miss something?  I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:

Continuing vacation means I’ve finished all the painting I was wanting to get done around the house – bathroom, kitchen, and all remaining untouched walls in the living area have been redone with semi-gloss, and while I was at it I fixed up the built-in bookcase with fresh paint on the shelves and a cute wallpaper accent. Yay making my home fancy with very little money involved!
