Weeklyish thingy and a painting!

So one of the benefits of having a mother who’s hyper-social and a joiner is that she does things like getting me to join the Women’s Caucus for the Arts and submit a piece to the show she’s organizing because she’s worried about not getting enough work and knows I can absoLUTELY meet the show theme of ‘Women Who Dare’.

So anyhow if you’ve been around quite awhile you may recognize this; it’s a totally new painting, but based on the design I did a while back when I was specifically working on what was intended to be a coloring book of historical women and their words. This version isn’t quite the same (aside from being larger and in watercolor instead of marker) but it owes most of its layout to that first piece.

I was really torn on which design to revisit, but in the end I felt like this hit the sweet spot of having a very lively, active figure AND being a really fun subject to feature in the show since it’ll be at the Houston Public Library. If I’d had time though I definitely would have redone Marsha P. Johnson next (although true to artists the world over there were plenty of submissions at the last minute, so there probably wouldn’t have been space for a second piece anyhow).

Did I miss something?  I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:

Well, first freaked out, then happy. Eeeeek my litter robot suddenly developed a sensor problem that meant it was freezing in cat release mode! I did all the cleaning and troubleshooting and finally during a deep clean last night I discovered that the base is BROKEN THROUGH right above the litter drawer. How the fuck did that happen? No clue! Am I still within the warranty? Yes, but barely – I purchased it on 2.15.23. Aaaaaaaaaagh!

And then today, before I expected a response from my claim since it’s a Sunday, I heard back from Whisker and literally the only question they asked was my shipping address for a replacement base to be sent.

Look, it was expensive af and I know it’s not plausible for everyone but wheeeee am I grateful for that year warranty and their customer service. Also I go through so much less litter and Mooch’s asshole love of high peeing is fully contained, I can never go back. Leaving the pic of him with litter on his face from last time since it’s still extremely appropriate.
