Words mean things!
It’s that time of year again, and this is a public service announcement:
MEASUREMENTS are when we measure your body. You come wearing your own clothes, ideally not a skirt, and we wrap a tape measure around pretty much everything. We may also take your picture for reference.
FITTINGS are when we put a costume on your body and see how it fits. They can’t happen till after measurements. When I call you to set up a fitting and you never return any of my messages because you think you’ve already had a fitting, you are confused. Those were measurements. If we didn’t put a costume on you, you are not ready to go on stage yet.
