But in the meantime, let me just say that the reason I keep claiming not to be collecting owls is because I did have a doll collection as a child (ok, I still have some of it), and as soon as friends and family hear that you collect a thing, you will receive ALL of that thing, regardless of type or quality or space in your room. Which is really sweet and lovely of them, except AAAGH. And look, some of my favourite dolls ever — most of my favourites — were gifts, it’s just that there were also a lot of random and pointless ones taking up space too, and you can’t not keep that doll someone gave you for your birthday, even if you don’t really want it and have nowhere left to put it.
Anyway, I tend to accumulate tchotchkes on my own, and so I’m trying to avoid more than very occasional additions, while simultaneously wanting all the things, as is my wont.
Yeah, like that.
V & I recently visited Ikea. Every time we saw something with an owl on it, V’s comment was, “Owl. Buy it for Nara!” Over and over. And over. Sigh. I’m really trying to *not* be the person who just buys you anything owl-related.
That sounds remarkably similar to me shopping and going, “Owl! Buy it for self!” over and over again. I’m trying not to be that person too.
