The aforementioned bitchload of birch trees is begun! Fun story, though, the DMC Color Variations Squall that I was using as the sort of unifying thread tweeded with pale grey on the larger tree and beige on the smaller one ran out, and Michael’s (my only option in Houston that I know of) doesn’t seem to even carry that colour any more, nor do any of the embroidery supply places I checked online. Soooo I gave in and ordered 10 fucking skeins from DMC directly and, honestly, I’m kind of thinking I should have done even more. It’s such a useful variegated mix of palest grey, cream, white, and lavender, and if it’s being discontinued or whatever 10 skeins will keep me supplied for a long time, but not forever.
I did also take a chance on ordering a clear knockoff brand from the evil Bezos store because a pack of 30 assorted variegateds was very affordable, and they are NICE. Very silky, beautiful colors, lovely thread. They even have a reasonable dupe of the Squall colorway – not close enough to use on the same continuous object, but close enough to use for other trees. The problem is, that seller only seems to sell variety packs, and while I will gradually use all of the colours I bought, I will not use them all at the same rate. I really need to be able to order specific skeins for it to be a viable substitute. Anyhow, the brand is CABODYALS if anyone else is looking for good discount rainbow thread – I know, it’s one of those auto-generated brand names, too, but I can’t argue with the floss.

Places to buy stuff!
Did I miss something? I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:
I got to see a few friends at an artist hangout Sunday and that was delightful. I also FINALLY trimmed my overgrown mop (or actually Supercuts trimmed it) and went to see Project Hail Mary, which was fucking delightful, and then the Artemis crew got home safely, so a pretty good weekend all told.
