Neurotic Owl

The weekly thingy and some more forest floor!

Back to embroidery, but I’ll have the next step in the dollhouse process for you soon too! I’ve added in the dirt path, what will be some moss once I snip the loops and trim them, and some individual grass blades coming up through the path in spots. You’ll also see some yellow-orange blobs here – those were the start of fallen leaves but they just weren’t working for me as an embroidered element.

So, I was searching around for tiny leaf charms, but then I remembered that I own polymer clay, duh. So I made a very simple little cane and a pile of leaves from it, and I’ll start adding those on once I’ve got my moss patches established. I feel like adding them as dimensional charms will do much better at getting me to the piles of fallen leaves look I want.

Places to buy stuff!

Did I miss something?  I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:

Another quiet week at work where I’m mostly alone in the office and can just listen to audiobooks while I power through my work list? Yesssss come to me sweet sweet quiet and efficiency.

And a reminder – right now there are four different places to see my work! Check out the exhibitions page for details. If you’re in Houston, TX stop by the Silos at Sawyer Yards for Through Her Eyes; in San Antonio, TX check out Our Lady of the Lake University Library for Becoming and Belonging; online you can see The Spectrum of She, and as of two days ago the national show in Lorton, VA has opened at Workhouse Arts Center.
