flying through clouds of uncertainty on wings of existential dread
Sometimes I make dolls/sculptures/doll-like things.
This one was for a Fiber Arts Guild gallery show years ago, and based on ‘She Walks in Beauty like the Night’. She’s pretty large — just under 3′ tall.
As it happens, I did get into the juried show, but the judge’s comments noted that she had almost turned me down because dolls are not considered art in England (where she’s from) because they’re really usable craft items. Which, ok, I know quite a few English doll artists, and also this isn’t exactly something you hand your neice, but whatever. You’re the judge, your opinion counts.
Except that 99% of the other items she juried into the show were quilts. Logic, I has it.
