Neurotic Owl

flying through clouds of uncertainty on wings of existential dread

Aaaand back to books you may or may not have read.

poly Because I assume everybody’s read ‘A Wrinkle in Time’, and OF COURSE Meg Murray’s on my list, but I don’t know how many people have read the other books, especially the second generation ones.  So basically ‘An Acceptable Time’ features Poly O’Keefe, Meg’s daughter, traveling back in time, and it’s great.

I’m not sure why L’Engle’s Christian elements never bother me when that sort of thing usually squicks me out.  I think it’s because she’s both extremely sincere and not at all dogmatic.  It doesn’t feel like she’s preaching at me; it just seems like this is an integral part of her and her characters’ worldview.  Also, she’s not a dick about other religions, so there’s that.
