Once again it’s been a bit longer between posts while I waited to have something a little different to show you. I’m on a brief pause on the embroidery while I work on a piece that actually has a deadline. This is for a show called ´Zoom In’, which will feature a set of pieces about various winners of the Women’s Caucus for Art lifetime achievement award, all done in the same dimensions, and intended to be displayed as if they’re on a Zoom call.
I was assigned Lucy Lippard, an amazing art writer, activist, and artist who you should absolutely look up. That left me with a bit of a conundrum once I started researching – I found that despite being on the cutting edge of modern art and radical politics she’s a bit of a Luddite when it comes to the internet, and I could NOT imagine her turning up for a Zoom meeting.
Also, she charmingly wrote ‘Stuff: In Place of a Memoir’, a book that actually is full of memoir-types stories but is built around her collection of art and ephemera and books and papers.
I LOVE drawing tiny shit, as y’all well know, so here’s where I’m headed:

I’m just about ready to start painting and since the photos I found of her home in New Mexico are PACKED with colour this should be fun. And yes, I did look up some papers in her handwriting to try to mimic it here.

Places to buy stuff!
Did I miss something? I think that’s everything.

What’s making me happy this week:
‘Suffs’ streaming free on YouTube, thank you PBS!!!
